What We Did:
---
This is a fantastic introduction project. The students were asked to outline their foot and cut it out. They then had to pick symbols that related to aspects of their life to place on the foot. The only requirement they had to complete was to have at least three medias (newspaper, magazine, object, etc.) on their foot. In my example, I choose to use crayon, marker, construction paper, a receipt, and string. The placement is also important so that other students are able to visibly see the symbols. I used construction paper and wrote "A, B, C" to represent becoming an Elementary teacher. I cut out two receipts I had to represent my two favorite places to go shopping. I also took string to make a cross to represent my faith. Lastly, I went in with crayon to draw a sun and water to represent that summer and warm weather are my favorite. There are many ideas that one could give their student, these are just a few that represent me!
Extension Activity:
---
To extend the knowledge of the students after they complete their own footprint, they will be asked to outline at least one family members foot. After they complete the outline, students will have the task of writing one word to describe the person they outlined their foot. The students would have the time to color their word and outline so they have the opportunity to share with their classmates.
