What We Did:
In this activity, we learned about geometric and organic shapes. We got to play around with the different shapes, as shown in the picture below. Then the artist Wassily Kandinsky was a focus of our conversation. After we learned about the organic and geometric shapes along with the artist, we were instructed to draw 3 of each shape type, then we drew a line across the paper. Once we finished drawing our shapes we got to use water color and paint the different areas depending on the music we were listening to. This allowed us to be creative and listen to our inner feelings to correlate with a color.
Extension Activity:
To extend this fun activity, one could incorporate another subject. I feel a good example is mathematics, or language arts. For math you could count the amount of shapes and colors match other students in the class. For language arts, you could find a book that has something to do with shapes and read that to the students.
